Pastor John and his wife Tiffany live in Boynton Beach, FL with their 8 year old daughter , Hannah, and their 3 year old son, John A. Panico the 3rd, born on April 1, 2011 (first family photo of all four of us to the left). They are both registered nurses with Tiffany caring for kids in the emergency room at West Boca Medical Center and John working on the other end of the spectrum full time as a nurse for Hospice By The Sea. They have been happily married for over 11 years , and have been serving the Lord together ever since they met back in 2001.
Pastor John was brought up in the church, but in his teens was drawn away by a combination of family tragedy, peer pressure, and the pursuit of an acting career. After wandering in the wilderness (Manhattan) for many years and experiencing many career and relationship failures, John began volunteering with children at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. It was here that John met a young man whose battle with cancer would have a profound influence in his life.
Initially, John’s experience as a volunteer forced him to question any faith he had left as he asked “How could a loving God allow children to go through such suffering?”. It was then John met a young man with a rare bone cancer named Jason. John knew Jason to be a professing Christian and he respected the young man’s perspective on his battle with the dread disease. Jason told John that he was in a “win win situation”, going on to say, “If I live I get to stay with my family and if I die I get to meet Jesus.” Shortly thereafter Jason went on to be with the Lord. This compelled John to begin exploring his faith again.
In 2001 , John moved down to Florida to 1) take a different career path (now healthcare) and 2) to begin exploring his relationship with God. It was at this time he contacted the pastor from his childhood (Pastor Gary), and, at the same time God brought into his life real people with real struggles, and a very real faith … not the least of which was his wife, Tiffany. It was also at this time that Pastor John began listening to the teachings of Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale which were presented in a way that helped him better understand the personal relationship that was possible with Jesus. John was immediately compelled to begin taking what he was learning and sharing it with others. Shortly thereafter John married his best friend and partner in Christ, Tiffany.
Another turning point in John’s life occurred in October of 2004 when a local pastor took the time to sit with John and Tiffany after a Saturday night service instructing them that it was important that a pastor “should have a love for God’s Word and a love for God’s people.” From that point John began taking classes and digging deeper into the Word of God and was given the opportunity to teach youth and adults in many different settings.
John recently finished his schooling at Columbia International University in Columbia, SC and is excited to see God working in the lives and hearts of the adults and children of our church family. He has recently worked with Pastor John Chinelly from Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale to affiliate Delray Beach Community Church with the Calvary Chapel movement. On April 14th, 2011, having received the blessing of Pastor Bob, Pastor John, and Pastor Roger Wing from Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa, John received a letter welcoming him as a Senior Pastor and welcoming our church family to the Calvary Chapel movement. on May 1st 2011, Delray Beach Community Church became Calvary Chapel Delray Beach.
