The Beginning

In May of 2009, a group of believers, from different backgrounds, began praying about the possibility of planting a church in the South Palm Beach area. An old friend of Pastor John’s had made a small store front/performing arts space in Boynton Beach available to us for little cost, and we began meeting shortly thereafter. As we continued to pray for direction, we developed a burden for the community of Delray Beach very quickly; and that’s when God opened up an opportunity for us to have our Saturday night meeting at Veterans’ Park Community Center in Delray Beach. It is at that time, we came up with the name Delray Beach Community Church.

Our Background

Having been heavily influenced by the Calvary Chapel movement’s commitment to teaching God’s word, following the Holy Spirit’s leading, and reaching people locally and globally with the gospel of Jesus Christ, we contacted Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale regarding the possibility of affiliating with the Calvary Chapel movement. We completed the affiliation process and on May 1st , 2011 Delray Beach Community Church became Calvary Chapel Delray Beach meeting at the Plumosa Elementary School Cafeteria. There we served the school, and the community faithfully until June 16th 2019.

Where we are today

After serving the Delray community faithfully from 2009-2019, the Lord stirred our hearts to consider moving out of Delray to the Lake Worth area, specifically to The Palm Beach School For Autism. There were many compelling factors to responding to God’s call to move, including, but not limited to, the opportunity to serve the special needs community in a greater capacity, and to cast our nets into new water. These factors were met with a special relationship already had with the school , where our pastor’s daughter attends and our worship leader works at! We believe God has breathed fresh wind and fresh fire into this work as we continue our commitment to “know God and make Him known” at our new church home. It is our hope to see community groups and home churches spring up in the Palm Beach County area. Our first service at the Palm Beach School For Autism occurred on June 23rd, 2019 under our new name, New Life Calvary!
